  • Hey, im new here and newly into single-speed riding (fixed gear will be a long way off - too scared!)
im looking for an otp single speed bike for around £400?
ive been looking at the charge plugs.. the plug racer looks easily the nicest but would want to put bullhorns on it as i hate dropdowns... my brother has the plug, and it rides amazingly, you said it was heavy on this forum, it really isnt and it actually looks really good, however i want to look elsewhere than charge as im relatively new to single speed riding..

so other than charge plugs any advice on any good otp single speeds that look good for around £250-£450

    cheers

    *sorry for title misspelling...

  • yer use the search facility for OTP

  • Genesis Flyer. Different level of quality to Fillmore, Plug etc.

  • tomiskinky thats a sick bike! but not so sure about the brown....

  • genesis flyer a tad expensive....

  • i hate dropdowns...

Well, they can make browsing a bit fiddly if overdone, but what's that got to do with bikes?

  • genesis flyer a tad expensive....

I think Condor are doing them for £450.

  • also will i be shot down for thinking that the plug freestyler looks cool? :)

  • Nah I thought it look cool, it's the best HHSB a bike company managed to released to be honest.

  • Langster , all day long . Buy one of the cheap new 07 frames that seem to be around ( Pearsons had some for £100 ! ) and spec it yourself . spent about £ 500 all told on mine ( with bullhorns and other shiny bits , halo track wheels ,ultegra calipers etc ) and it weighs as much as an angels fart and goes like greased weasel shit *

    nb may offend purists .

    • for the money
  • ahh sounds sick, but i don't know if im good enough to build myself..

  • Neither was I , make friends with your local bike shop / mechanic .

  • ahh but my local bike shop are such con-merchants, cheap crappy parts which they sell to folk for ridiculous prices + they have no clue and will probably tell me to f**k off if i ask them to build me a bike ^^

  • also what good OTP HHSB bikes are there?

  • Hab*. if you're not sure about building up a bike, then get an OTP, or get a frame, go chat with SmallBrownBike (he's on the forum), and he'll help you spec it up and will build it up for you for a small fee.

just make sure you get a track frame or horizontal dropouts of some sort - if youre not sure, ask here first.
OTP get the bowery from that shop in sutton (search) and change the bars if you want. it's a steal.

  • As Fred says , the bowery does seem like really good value , and pearsons are good people to deal with ( bought my Langster frame and forks from them , arrived next day as promised and are full of good advice ) and Giant bikes are top notch in my book ( got a TCR road bike myself ) , cant help thinking that there are some really good deals on Langsters tho , lighter than the Bowery and we do need people to stick up for them on here !!

  • yeah saw last years langster frames going for £100

  • why do the kids today think everything good is unwell?
