Freewheel conversion

  • Hi

i know this must have been asked like a million times but for the life of me i cant find the thread i need by searching the forums.....

whats the best way to convert a freewheel hub to fixed, with out taking the wheel to bits and replacing the hub??!
i'm looking for anything that i can either get sent to holland or buy here. any ideas?

    thanks

  • if it's a shimano freewheel then a surly fixer.

    "luke use the search facility"

  • That will only work with a freehub not a freewheel.

Noorkiv It is easier and cheap to just buy a track hub and rebuild / build a new wheel.

  • sorry always get that the wrong way round. i bow to you sir tommy. you'd have thought after 15 years i'd remember which one was which but still i forget.

  • Ha! We all have things like that which we mix up. I'm really bad with place names even though I have lived near for years.

  • Yeah i thought that was going to be the answer. only problem is i have no knowledge let alone experience building wheels, i would love to go down and join up one of the wheel building sessions, but sadley i think dropping in from amsterdam back to london for a wheel building session might be exessive!!
    thanks guys.

  • Not if you bring ganja.
