'Changing Rooms' your bike

Given the recent spate of powdercoat every bit of original paintwork going, how long will it be before the backlast comes and there will be a bunch of ridiculous posts about 'how do I remove the matt black powder coat from my vintage colnago track without damaging the orignal paintwork' type thing. I also feel the end of the bright coloured deep v is coming, I'm stocking up on all the skinneys rims I can find. Am I wrong or is old really soon going to be the new, new?

For my beat-around bike I would always prefer something with a section.
