Rubbish posts! What should I do? Dear LFGSS...

Dear LFGSS,

What's going on with the amount of rubbish posts on this forum?

Nobody hardly introduces themselves.
Nobody searches for anything anymore.
Loads of 'For Sale' first posts.
Aliases everywhere! I'm losing grip of who's who!
Just general pointless threads. (Not good ones)

I don't want to be a kiljoy. Maybe it my time of the month?

I just think what happened to making your own decisions and building up something for yourself which you've taken your time over and researched.

There's so many useful 'old' threads which tell you everything you need to know.
All the other sites listed for your pleasure are in there too.
When the late, great Sheldon Brown passed away, that didn't mean you can't look at his site for all the answers anymore.

I just feel the quality of the forum has been ruined by so much crap.
We try and revive it by looking back "best ever thread, funniest thread etc"
The quality of many of these threads are so shocking, some result in pretty funny comments whilst some end up bitchy which is down to the frustration of yet another tedious post.
It's a web forum so I guess it takes all sorts and the in-jokes are funny when you get them after scanning through the drivel.

When I log on, I always see the same shit interfering with the good stuff.
I almost can't be bothered to filter through.

What bike should I buy?
What colour should I paint my perfectly painted original frame?
What should I eat for dinner?
I haven't searched but reckon we should do a 'faces to bikes' thread but I'm not sure so what do you think?
I've got £1000 pounds. What bike should I buy?

Of course, there are exceptions but where's the quality control?

Even Hippy and Dogs don't seem to post as much as they used to!
Or maybe I just can't find 'em.

I introduced myself in a fairly rubbish thread asking whether you guys would recommend doing a conversion, new build or buy something OTP.. I'm plumped with conversion due partly to funds and also because it'll give me a bit more technical know-how..

the forum is a vicitm of its own success . . pretty much anythime you google something fixed/ss related then a thread from here comes at or pretty close to the top, and the growth in fixed riding ,eans that the threads arent going to get any better any time soon.

I gave up on a snowboarding forum for the same reason, it just became the same what do i buy, what do you think threads over and over.

Still Dogs's Cliff thread was a stiring reminder of all that is good on here

Fick it, I came on here cos I wanted a bike. I built that bike, using the knowledge emparted here (and from Sheldon RIP) and got to know the other people on here too. I now drink, ride, hang out with them* and listen to their music on the Bright Times thread. I don't need to read every thread, but some of the derails are better than the original thread purpose.

Its not the kids I worry about, its the older ones with the internet access, quick typing speeds and huge supplies of Cake.
