Wanted: Help and loads of parts

Posted on
  • yo, so i'm still missing certain parts from my build(this is my frame). As i have no specialist tools i'm going to be taking it to Perlie Rides (www.perlierides.com) to get it built for me. He is able to supply me with the below parts, but he's not going to have enormous choice, and it will all be new stock, so i can imagine it's gonna be the straws that break the camels back.

    the list runs thus:

    a chain
a sprocket (dunno what size to choose, i'm running 49 - Miche Advanced in front)
a headset - want something silver
a bottom bracket.(english thread, the hole measures 35 across)
    a brake lever
a seat post - 26.4 i think, the seat post

it's slowly getting shorter, but very slowly, and i'm running out of cash...

anyone got anything going spare? tires for instance could be any old things knocking about, and i'll replace them when i've replenished my hordes of treasure..

any help would be greatly appreciated!

    au revoir, van damage

  • a gear lever

    really?

I think you mean brake lever.

people are going to need to know what size seatpost and BB you require

  • oh yes you're right. This is all from memory. will edit when i get home and look at the thing.

  • I have a 27.0 and a 26.4 seatpost.

Also a campagnolo gear lever & matching front mech.

If your desperate I have a crap headset you could have for free.

  • i got a black seatpost 26.8 and a pink chain sale . . .
    20 shipped together . . .

  • I have a couple of part used Panaracer 700c x 23 tyres you can have if they are any use to you? Where are you? I work around Kings Cross.

  • thanks p!mp, and everyone for your help so far...

Just updated the list with measurements etc.

found out they are gonna charge me £40 for the build, and they only have the 17 shimano un52 bb and it's 17 quid, what do people think of that?

this is all helping greatly, cheers

  • +1 to what Henry said (although I think you have even find the BB cheaper? Otters got one for 8 quid I think?)

Might need new pads but with cleaning and oil will work a charm!

  • Also, I'd want a 18/19/20t cog (71/67/65ish gear inches).

  • we have loads of spare bits at our house, and if you bring your frame and all your parts over, we can help you throw it all together.

we have open toolbox almost every sunday morning (http://www.londonfgss.com/thread4716.html), and this sunday is definitely happening so if you want to pop over, we'd be more than happy to help.

cool, ta Horatio. I guess I dont like it when my legs go around too fast. so would that be more like the 18?

@ eyebrows: cool, good idea, I think i'll try and get it done with mary and small brown bike, but if i fail, then i'll let you know...

@JD_: thanks! but no, i dont need brakes, cheers though keeping an eye out!

@Mary : thanks for the tip! I'm away on sunday though, but i'll pm you for more info, ta!

  • saw you in Cavendish, didn't recognise you (mashton's friend right)
I was the tall dude with mohawk telling you about Condor

  • ahh, hello, yep, that was me, cool, good to put names to faces... got the bb from them, they were busy as hell, but of course now i'm not building it till next week, so could order the same bb for almost half the price. and take it back to the shop... hmmm

  • oh and I got an 18t EAI cog sitting around if you want it.
