Filling old brake holes

Posted on
  • im looking to fill the old brake mounting holes on a old road frame im converting.

im not sure what to use to fill the holes. im giving the bike a new paint job so as long as it can be sanded smooth and is strong enough itl be good.

    what do you guys reckon?

  • Brass

  • Brakes ;)

  • brass, how would i go about doing that?

i was thinking there must be some kind of plastic based resin i can pour into the hole then sand smoth. unfortunatly i have no idea if such a product exists.

  • Find a place that can do fillet brazing, all it takes is a little bit of brass solder then file it down after to smooth it off ready for a repaint.

  • why can't you just use car body filler?

  • Ok for enamel, prob no use for powdercoat.

  • Soft cheese works.

  • Your dick! lolol

  • fender, rack, brake, old school light mount.

  • yeah, ive got a couple of holes in the rear of my frame, just up from the drop outs on the inside, i need to close them, i don't know what to use...

  • don't close them they should be there!

  • water goes in....rusty coloured water comes out...

  • watter gets in in alot of places, at least it gets out if you have those holes. if you are scared put some automotive rust proofer on the in side of the frame and let it dry.
