Splitting a hyperglide chain

I'm probably being a moron- I've not split a hyperglide before, always used SRAM etc.

Now I need to split it, got the link in the chain tool and the pin I chose will not move at all.

Do I just need to HTFU and increase the pressure, or do I need a specific tool?

Don't fuck around with Shimano pins when putting it back together, use SRAM Powerlinks.

If I had a 10 speed SRAM chain I would have used it- only had a 9 speed, which I doubt would have made the road bike happy, and it would have made the mountain bike very upset as it needs it.

Anyway, chain has been split, mech swapped and chain replaced.
