Years ago shimano stx cranks used a odd way of attching the rings and i think it was middleburn that made an adaptor plate a bit like what your surgesting. Unless you have a cnc lathe wont it look a bit naff tho?

convert say a 122BCD to a 144BCD, im gonna make one.
Why not just buy a chainring with the correct BCD?

the amount you are likely to pay for the plate, might be worth getting another set of crank arms.

Indeed, and to answer, i have a lathe and a mill, CNC no needs gots my DRO.

Buy a 110 BMX one, chop out the middle, and drill some new holes, if you have all the kit.
I think making an adaptor is asking for problems.
