Just me on this one then....
Must be older than I thought.
Thought folk ran brakeless so they could take track frames on the Queen's Highway.
Surely you'd have to remove the brakes from a conversion?

• #4
and?
-

kowalski.. don't you understand man??? London's mountain ranges need the lightest bike to traverse at any kind of speed. Brakes are an unnecessary burden to the modern fixed climber.

Riding brakeless isn’t a necessity, its a choice
You may not agree with it but providing the person in question is aware of what they are doing and capable of controlling their bike i can see nothing wrong with it

• #7
wow that looks like a pile of crap

• #8
errrm......

or maybe he/she had just taken the brake and fitted it to their polo bike and don't have a spare?
..or aliens took it.

I dont get it?
"folk" would attach brakes to make riding on the "Queens highway" a little easier.
First you say you saw somebody riding a brakeless conversion, then you say "youd have to remove the brakes from a conversion"
I dont get it.
If your riding brakeless, of course you need to remove brakes to make a bike brakeless. but not if you just want to ride it.
Go and rehearse some logic and come back.

Obviously I don't.

Track bikes don't have brakes or the facility to fit them. Search the forum for "drilling".
Conversions have brakes in their original form.
Still don't get it?

I understand you Kowalski. but it's best to forget about these things

No brakes on a fixed I can understand, it's these tits on single speeds with a free wheel and no back brake I dont understand. I know I shouldnt care, but winds me up a treat.
Saw someone riding like this yesterday on the wettest, slippiest roads Ive seen in London for ages. I'd be surprised if he made it home if he wasnt going so slow!! -

I rode a brakeless conversion, due to the large clearances and lack of a long reach front brake. Best experience of my life. Since then i've only crashed a bike once, and that was because i was riding with my eyes closed.

Had to see a man about a dog in K-Town at lunchtime.
What dog? From the early days of web 2.0:
Don't blog if you only walked the dog -
