Charge plug mudguards + bags

  • im looking for a decent bike for under £500, and i like to look of the charge bikes even if they are a little heavy.

however for a commuter bike i think guards are a necessity, its bloody england: it rains all the fucking time. has anyone tried fitting mud guards to a plug?

also somtimes im gonna need to attach panniers, is this possible?

maybe the plug isnt the best suited to my prefrences, can anyone recommend anything better?

  • I put a set of race blades on the rear, no probs, think clearance was an issue for the front though. I put them on as a spur of the moment thing one morning, so might have been able to get it to fit with more time.

Deffo nothing on the frame to fix a standard rack for panniers to. There are a number of solutions to that I believe (seat post supported ones, something that fixes on to the skewer / uses p clips) but you'd need to look in to a non standard solution, sorry...

Specialized Tricross? It's a single-speed cyclo-cross bike, and I'm sure it's got eyelets for panniers/mud-guards. And as it's for cyclo-cross you can fit skinny, racing tyres or wider, cyclo-cross ones, which might be better if you're commuting in the rain, and dark, in the rush-hour, in December.

  • on-one pompino has mounts for racks and guards.
