Erk em, watch out for them... my mates did that, and let it 'ferment'. the vodka didn't quite penetrate all of the melon and the whole thing went disgracefully mouldy. And they only realised this after drinking all of it and cutting it open. Never seen so much vomit in my life! :)

Saying that, they did leave it for like a week.
