what's your favorite english name? Thats where i would start. I have some Korean friends back home who went with typical american names that they could easily pronounce themselves, when they first arrived. Within a year all but one were all back to using their given names because they found that friends eventually cared enough to learn korean pronunciation. -
any way to shorten it?
I have another friend who's name when pronounced sounds like Dragon - which he changed to George because he was sick of people asking if it was really his name. -

Haha, as a student at Imperial I experience this on a daily basis. The majority of them seem to just sit down and watch an episode of Monty Python or some other old British comedy, and pick a name from that.
Boris seems popular. There are four Chinese guys called Boris on my course.

I would choose the name one of my Chinese students decided to call herself on arrival in this country (I used to teach English to start international MBA students off).
Her name was Talent.

I think taking the first consonant of your real name is quite sensible..
Jin-Jin = Jill; Rhunzi = Richard
..have fun with it! -

"Ginger" would be a pretty good name for a Chinese kid.

I have a dutch client called cornelius. He uses his nickname, which he was given by a northern lass in the 60's, even at work (in an investment bank): cock.

... and had to choose yourself an "english name" so thick people could address you without making several embarassing mispronunciations.
What would you choose?
