Needs a rear brake on an asap basis.
-
• #6
why not try a white industries eccentric bottom bracket or rear hub, expensive, but you wouldn't have to fiddle with the tension, or use ahalf link chain
-
• #7
would a normal hub work with those spokes? looking up the bb
it has horzontal dropouts there just short i will see how short when i get it. might get away with short chain tugs
-

^ u need a special hub

you bought a road bike, because you wanted a fixed ride. OK.

yeh i have always been a fan of kleins as i am from a mountain biking background. yeh its a road bike no reason it can be fixed nothing good is ever easy

whats 'good' about it as a fixed ride?
-
• #13

well its going to be i nice blend of what i like and what i want from a road/fixed bike
i will be commuting 6 miles a day with hardly any hills so one gear suits me as there is less to break, i have been running ss on my bikes for just over 5 years and i want to try a fixie of my own and this seams like the perfect time to do it and a good excuse to buy a 5th bike lol. i guess i have stuck to what i know by buying a mountain bike brand but i have always had a soft spot for kleins.once i put my own mark on it it will be "me" just like all my other bikes

mate, do whatever you want, it's fine. red is a fast colour too or so i've heard.
-
• #16
take the brakes off it will look better
-
• #17
yeh i heard that too lol. dont think its going to stay red tho. i can never leave anything alone
Brakes will be coming off.
-
• #18
I think you should leave it red and original, it will sell better on retrobike when you get bored of it/want to move on.
Nice though.

any other ways?? to go fixed
Depending on how much 'meat' you have on the dropouts you may be able to file a little more out of them to give you some movement.
Got a close up of the dropouts ?
Bought this few days ago i no its not olds skool kool its my first road bike always been into moutain bikes and bmx etc

But she will be a nice commuter i think.
Going to get rid of the tenstioner and either make some super shot chain tugs or find a ratio with a halflink chain that works.
And to go fixed either ghetto it and weld up the cassete freehub or splash out on a surly fixxer thingy if it would work or a whole new wheel if needs be.(any other ways?? to go fixed)
