Sounds like a wicked ride and much respect for pushing out millage like that and then spending a week getting drunk, but I suppose that's what you need to do after riding 136 miles (googles number). Have fun.

Thanks Tommy,
if everything goes to plan I'll be too be too exhausted to do myself 'full-commitment mischief' once inside, and will lie happily dazed in the morning sun, out of my mind on endorphins and seratonin.
- I've been eyeing up all 136 miles for weeks now, and even avoiding the major roads the route look nice and clean, so it's going to be ok to navigate at night. I think.

he he, thanks Mr Silver - Don't worry, I'm planning on having an instrument taped to the frame so I can blast out the occasional rousing anthem in the inky darkness!
Many thanks JDSH - I'll report in next week, depending on how it goes - "oh, I actually just chucked my bike over a hedge and thumbed a lift from somewhere outside Staines" etc. Then I've just got the Etape the weekend after which, on a proper road bike, should be a breeze.
Note to self; stay off the demon booze this week.

no no no Stef,
These are my last-ditch miles before the Etape. They're mine and I want them to hurt.
- Are you going?

Well, here we go chaps, departing in an hour, full of pasta, all looking great apart from a mild-yet-direct headwind... Wish me luck.
- feel free to insert the obligatory Arrospok somewhere, maybe as a spare on the back?

Onward.

tap tap.
I'm back.
Made it, safe and sound, no problem. I'll write up the adventure when when I get some time, but in a nutshell; a pleasantly challenging ride, with lots of hilariously bleak moments.

Mentioned you last night hows the saddle? Looking forward to the write up and the pics.

Kazoo on a track bike! The next big thing.
-
• #22
mad work doing that solo. at night.
so many things to go wrong..
I have a kazoo here, but it's metal, gold and will clash with my frame.
-
• #23
that kazoo is in a ridiculous position -you can tell it's just for hipster value and not serious cycle-kazzooing

Brilliant Kazzoism, and well done on the ride.
Next year will you and the troupe come and play in the Kids Field? Or did you and I missed it?
I'll be heading down on Thursday, late afternoon, into the night and on the off-chance was wondering if anyone else is doing the same. I'm not worried about the ride, it's the boredom I think I'll have the most trouble with + be nice to shave off some time/energy by sharing the work.
Mates are taking my kit so I'll be travelling light (food, water, essentials), have got good lights (Hope), tonnes of reflective crap, and will lock my bike in my mates van when I get there.
I'll be riding 48/16, at a fair pace, so I won't be fannying around. However, my bike would probably break your tiny, cold hearts at the moment; bottle cages, computer, light pack + headlight, two brakes, Ha ha ha....
Anyone fancy a slice of HTFU? Or simply crying in a ditch in Wiltshire in the dark?
