I think there was an old Ephgrave track frame at the HH bike jumble the other week... pj (pj) would probably remember, I was on pain-killers so it's all a bit of a blur now...

  • i have a gillott track/path bike, its from 1967, how much were you looking to buy it for?

  • there was an ephgrave, a bates, and 4 (four) gillots, three of which were track/path. there was other stuff too.

  • See? Told you PJ was paying attention!
If you wanna chase the Herne Hill jumblers up I could pm you Wally's email addy, he organises all the soutshide jumble bizzle... He might know...

  • Thanks Teenslain, It would be great if you could get me the contact details of the guy selling the Gillot/Ephgrave frames. A.J.Searle@bristol.ac.uk

    cheers

    Aidy

  • ps - aidy - i tried very hard to clear up the confusion over the stokes path frame. the guy seemed mega happy anyway in the end.

  • the ephgrave was a road frame, as was the hobbs.

  • Hi Pj, do you know who was selling the Gillot frames at the Jumble - any more info appreciated? I am seriously looking for a Gillot road/path /track frameset.
No worries about the Stokes frame - if he was happy thats fine!
Is it you who is moving to Bristol? We are getting our own club together - if interested: www.fixedbristol.org.uk

    cheers

  • yes i am, 1st august. living in redfields/st george's, sounds great, i'll email when i get there. i'll be looking to do a lot of miles in august.

unfortunately i don't know who was selling them/the names of vendors, but joe (teenslain) sounds like he might know a man who does. the guy with one of the gillots also had a wally green, it was very nice. the other guy who had one is a chap who was at the last jumble, bank holiday, he had a black and silver holdsworth too. i speculated that it might have been graham in london, but i might be wrong.

  • PJ (as usual) is right, I think it was Graham in London... He's the road/path mad daddy at HH... Overpriced tho' IMHO... Good luck with the hunt Aidy... :)

  • Ok, does anyone have contact details for 'Graham in London' please?

  • Too slow bee-atch... ;p

  • thanks gramps :p

  • S'alright son...

  • how's the 'shaggers back' going?

  • Slowly getting better, just have to address the pain-killer addiction now... Codeine + white wine = Awesome! ;S

  • I have a gillot that was languishing in a neighbours shed for the last 40 or so years, it was owned by a local chap who used it in anger/competition as a member of the British team racing against Poland, where he was presented with a brand new FH. Scott? which he also gave me. He held no end of local records including the 25 and 50 mile time trials - he's in his 80's now but I have a big pile of old photo's which I will be scanning in which show him in his prime competing on his cycles. I would very much like to know a bit more about this bike if anyone has any info..? Photo's here

  • The Gillot is fantastic!

Try the vintage lot, I think they're called VCC, and the forum called RetroBike, and the site called Classic Lightweights ... there'll be, somewhere, a Marque Enthusiast will help you find out about your Gillot and Scott. The photos from competitions will be of interest to all those bodies. And us.

  • Thanks Scully :)

  • You're welcome, Hoglate.

  • That's a fine bike - looks like original paintwork too.
    Lucky you.
Mark Stevens is the marque expert.
He posts on here sometimes but his username escapes me.
I've got another contact for him - will message it to you.

  • Many thanks nankatsu, I have been chatting with Mark this afternoon via email, I dont think anything with a Gillott transfer moves on this planet without appearing on his radar. His knowledge has absolutely blown me away!!! He should get a grant and open a museum. Thanks again for the 'heads up'.
