Wanted: An cheap or free vintage rear mech

Posted on
  • Hello,

I picked up an old coventry eagle and im trying to do justice to the nice frame that it is.

    is a 5 speed bike, circa 1970 I think, has 27 1 1/4 steel wheels.

I have no funds to spend on it really, and in fact i picked up the whole bike for £10 in pretty nice riding condition.

But its got a lot of tat parts on it that I feel the need to switch.

Especially the shimano SIS derailieur, and the saddle.

Would be greatly appreciattive of any vintage looking rear mech, to work on a 5 speed freewheel.

    ta very much.

  • not vintage, but you could have this for beer money:

  • I've got a very retro sun-tour mech you could have. Camera is broke at the moment, but i might be able to manage a really shitty camera phone shot when i get home. PM me your mobile no.

  • think i've got 1 or 2 vintage rear mechs in my cupboard.
jus pm me and i'll dig them out.

  • Old Huret here that could probably be fixed up. (No pun here)

  • I've got an old shimano 500 one that came off of a 5-speed.

Although... the gears didn't shift well while it was a 5-speed, which is why it's now fixed (wheel), so this derailleur may be rubbish.
