Lake make some pretty good cheap MTB shoes. My first pair of clipless shoes were Lake and they would not die. T'was many a year ago now though.

I've got some Lake MTB shoes (MX80s I think) and they are the least water resistant things I have ever come across. When it starts raining, I may as well be wearing sandals.
Nice shoes otherwise though.

Same here - they just will not die. Not the most comfortable uppers compared to Sidi (but then, that goes for everything non-Sidi), but soles that were the perfect balance between grip/longevity, plus very stiff.

.....new shoes and still waiting on them to arrive....i was wondering if anyone has ever had a pair of them before or know someone who has and heard good or bad things about them?
Yes, I've herd lake shoes are the preferred brand of shoes use by scientologists. If you don't believe me head down to Tottenham court road, their all wearing them..

Are you using those shoes for weekend road bike riding?
They would be pretty useless at the pub or running round town. -
• #13
right now its a 12 mile cycle to my local town so i cycle there and back quite often so i want them for that and generally getting from A - B

They were canvassing brixton as well, offering 'free stress tests' with copies of an L Ron Hubbard book. One of them walked up to me to ask if i wanted to take part, but I guess my look of absolute dismay/disgust made him change his mind because he only got as far as "Hi would y..." before turning away to ask someone else!
It still put me in a bad mood all day. Fcuckers.

When I walked past them, before they could finished their sentenced "excuse me..", I replied;
"no thanks, I'm not a fan of Tom Cruise".

I always want to say "sorry, signed up to the Raelians yesterday and I'm trying to cut down to one UFO cult a week" but generally end up mumbling "no thanks", looking at the floor and speeding up a bit.

I like the idea of a free stress test... I never know when I'm stressed or not. And I do like a bit of science fiction literature... something about frozen aliens being dumped in volcanoes from alien dc-10's.
Damn, why aren't the scientologists canvassing over here?
