i ride a 58 - 60 cm frame track frame what size in inches should a mountain bike frame be for me ? the exact conversion is 22.8 but i was wondering if mountain bikes should be sized slightly smaller ? any advise on mountain bikes welcome

Don't most of them come as small, medium, large and extra large these days? If so you need a large one I'd say.

they only have 53 and 55cm frames it seems

Well I've only ever owned Cannondale or Klein mountain bikes which are s,m,l and xl sized. A mountain bike sized in inches would be pretty hard to judge without sitting on a full bike - it all depends on the geometry and there are so mmany differing frame styles.
BTW when writing 'mbk' are you alluding to the French bike company of that name or is it your own weird shorthand for mountain bike (MTB)?

For a mountain bike, XL=21", L = 19", M = 17" or there abouts, depends on the type of bike and brand a bit. But you are probably looking for a 19" frame at at guess, check out the TT lenght.

ah no i saw those pincipia frames and i started to drool am working on a mountain bike for my good self and thought that might make a good basis especially at the 60% off prices
