Saw that, just saw the police looking under the wheels, didn't look too close as it was chaos in the queuing traffic!

It was a huge MAN truck with a big Maersk container on it. I passed at 9.15am. The rescue had long passed by then it seemed. The bike lodged squarely between the front two wheels of the truck was light beige colour. Maybe a brown saddle. classic designed bike - not a mountain bike I'd guess.

Just got to work from Old St. The roundabout is all police-taped up with police cars blocking the southerly exit. That bike was right under the front of the truck but no sign of ambulances when I was there. Scary stuff indeed.

I was there earlier and the rider wasn't under the truck at that stage but kinda next to it, being attended by medics. Didn't see a bike.

I passed there about 9ish, no sign of the rider, just the bike between the front wheels. The cops were taking lots of pics. Hope the guy is ok, I'm pretty sure I've seen that bike around before :(

Was the lorry turning left onto northbound city road or turning south toward the city?
I have a pal who rides a cream bike west from east end in the mornings... -
• #12
Looked to me like it was heading for the city...

Damn this was the crash on this news this morning.
They didn't mention a cyclist at all just that a truck had crashed at old st round about. -

Turning south, heading towards the city.

The policeman i spoke to said the rider is okay though he may have a broken leg and has been lucky as he seems to have gone under the HGV.
bike was fixed (or ss - though no back brake), cream colour, ahead stem, and those bull bar extension bits on the end of risers, black Vs.
i went by after 10 and they still had it cordoned off to take pictures of where the bike was lying. Amazing that they held the traffic for so long.

Thanks Alan!
;)
I'm happy its not my mate, and very happy that the poor rider is still alive.

Sorry mate, all I saw was the cream bike... It looked quite stripped down so definitely a single speed and I may have seen some white trimmings on the handlebars but wasn't paying too much attention to specifics . Glad to hear that he is still alive, hopefully he recovers quickly.

I am very happy the rider survived. Looked like he went straight under the centre of the vehicle - but not too far. Those trucks have a huge blind spot at the centre front don't they?

sounds like peterd's bike?!?

FFS!! **Don't ride beside trucks!!
**(Not saying this guy did but that's what it looks like and it doesn't hurt to remind some of you)

FFS!! Don't ride beside trucks!!

I'm shit scared of trucks after hearing about all the riders knocked/run over by them.

I'm hoping cream means it's not as Peter's is more grey/green but unfortunately Dale you're right, it may well be seen as cream.. oh man come on Pete log in mate...

Glad the guy is still alive, and what hippy said...give the trucks a wide berth! no point looking for indicators they seem to be broke or missing on most trucks :S

Everyone should read this if they have not all ready.

From my 10sec glance it appears as though a truck turning down City Rd has hit a rider.
Loads of cop cars and ambos directing traffic around the area.
Looked to be a guy on the ground being given oxygen on the inside of a parked truck.
