personally i'd go with double either way, gives more flexibilty etc. i like the look of the SLR's bit more interesting, but probably less of a factor on the rear when the flanges are obscured somewhat... I have double HF btw. just my 2p...

go fixed fixed, more flexibility, means you can rock two ratios one, always a good look

As soon as I posted I realised if there were two cogs fitted you probably wouldn't see the slots anyway. How many of you run with 2 cogs fitted all the time? I've gone 48:18 so I guess I could fit something else.

Stick 18 on one side and something like 14 on the otherside so you can do fast stuff.
Also remember that you don't want the sprockets too far apart (tooth-count-wise) as both need to work with the one chain and however much movement you have in your dropouts.

just put some gears on.
I’ve got a HF single-sided Phil Rear hub but I’m about to swap it for the SLR version but the shop only has it in double fixed. I originally chose the single because of the cleaner lines but now I’m torn between the double SLR or single HF.
When a wheels built up (I’ve only seen pictures) does the double look OK or is the single a cleaner look? Sorry if it appears a strange/dumb/pointless (*delete as appropriate) question but I can’t visualise it.
