  • I know the curryers will/should be at the top of this tree, but given that I know I'm slow and need some sort of targets to aim for, I thought I'd ask

What are your point-to-point times across London.

Anybody can and should answer. Then we might know who's average, who's slow, and who's just downright supersonic.

    Examples:
Hammersmith roundabout to Oxford Circus = 20 minutes
Harrow Road + 1st Avenue to Lewisham Shopping centre = 40 minutes

It could also be used to help forum users plan bike journey times (whatever hillbilly does x 3)?

  • far side of stratford to picadilly and st james street where they meet 21 mins morning rush hour with a tail wind admittedly

  • Fair enough:

Bloomsbury to High St Ken: 20-25 minutes.
Clapham Junction to Bloomsbury: 30-35 minutes
Vauxhall to Bloomsbury last night pissed: felt like about 3 minutes.

  • Bloomsbury to High St Ken: 20-25 minutes.

out of interest which route do you take?

Stoke Newington Ch. St. to Chelsea & Westminster Hosp. (Fulham Rd.): 40 mins on ave.

  • This is from when I WAS fit (courier days):

Harrow Rd & Third Ave to Norwood Junction Station = 59 minutes, then 55 mins (return)
Harrow Rd & Third Ave to Hammersmith Rounabout = 12 minutes (really really pushing it, no stopping at lights)

    Now that I'm UNFIT:

Lillie Rd to Old Str = 31 mins
Eastie drinks to Lillie Rd = 45 mins

  • did Dalston to Colliers wood in 55min last night (admittedly no traffic) quite fast for me though, I think that burn to Eastie drinks with with Seb gave me the need for speed.
Colliers Wood to Tower Bridge 40mins on a good day.

  • far side of stratford to picadilly and st james street where they meet 21 mins morning rush hour with a tail wind admittedly

Quick whether in rush hour traffic or not! Was that on your road bike?

  • Balham to Primrose Hill - 40mins-ish (usually between 30-35mins on the speedo, but that doesn't count stopping for lights which I occasionally do).

  • I went to visit my parents in Teddington on Monday from work in Soho.

Managed that in 55 minutes, was dead chuffed. :)

  • Bloomsbury -> High St Ken:

    One of two:

    1) russel square, across to Tottenham Ct Rd, Howland St, New Cavendish St, Marylebone High St, george st, Kendal st, connaught st, hyde park square, brook st, through the park, kensington gore, high st ken. phew.

    or

    2) shaftesbury avenue, dothe jermyn st wiggle, onto picadilly, kensington gore. More traffic but quicker.

the other option is to bang up to euston road and then go along that as far as the paddignton flyover then cut through to lancaster gate, skirt the north side of the park and then cut through the embassies road (Kensington Palace Gardens)

  • On average, it takes about half an hour.

  • sth kensington to east finchley over hampstead 26min. :o

there is a thread on this already, somewhere?!?

  • east putney to monument - (going along sth of river and ignoring lights @ 4am this morning) 25mins
normally about 35-40mins in peak hr traffic

    east putney to harrow-on-the-hill 55mins

4 laps (2anti-2clockwise) of RP 1hr23mins - (just completed mins ago on road bike. obeying most 20mph speed limit cos of cops and so so slow cars!!!)

  • Sidcup to Uxbridge today 2hrs via Hyde park and Uxbridge rd.

  • Thats a pretty good time. Not the nicest 2hr ride but a fair time.

  • Hackney to top of Shaftesbury Ave - 20 mins

Ealing Common to Hackney 1hr 10mins. And it nearly killed me

  • around a bout a couple of minutes either side of here and there.

  • around a bout a couple of minutes either side of here and there.

That's fast. You must be jumping reds. It normally takes me at least twice as long as half of that, even with a prevailing wind.

  • streatham common to angel tube station : 22 mins.

  • west hendon to marble arch in 35mins.

  • streatham common to angel tube station : 22 mins.

seriously? shit man i need to stfu (speeden)

  • what does stfu mean?

and i wasnt on my fixed, so that might have helped.
