this can be done by you at home if you get tools together from nice people on here. really, it's fairly straight forward.

The Bike Shop on Lee High Road in Lewisham always working on fancy bits of racing carbon when I've popped in for a tube, probably all owned by Blackheath residents. Also let me use them as pick up and drop off point for courier when my frame had to go back to Bob Jackson.
Stay well away from D2 Leisure on Lewisham Way. -

I had a bad experience with them trying to charge me ridiculous amounts for a second hand rusty cottered chainset.
(and I did take this up with them before I posted on the forum - they didn't give a shit).

Edwardes is a proper-job lbs, absolutely love it. Never been in there without getting some deal on something or other, free tubes, rounded down prices etc etc. Old-skool place, proper mechanics, geezers working the shop etc. Sorry to hear that some have had bad experiences but nowhere's 100%, and they have a kinda not suffering fools gladly kinda approach. Hearts of gold tho!

Plus Edwardes has probably one of the finest selection of Italo plastic bike pron in London. And Cinelli Vigorelli's just lying around the place.

I've been going here for years - they are wicked. Really helpful without the snobbery you get at some places and good prices.
there's also a little place in deptford, just round the back of noodle king (in the wierd, nice little villagy bit). i forget its name but its got a black a pink sign and is next door to a florist (which has the same style sign). Never been there but i've heard its good.

There's a workshop in the wee industrial estate at Brockley Cross (The Cycle Team?), too.
I have been there for some minor assistance and they have been coolio.
They look after the Wiggums' bikes in there too.I really want to have a go on one of those super expensive piggy-bikes...

Is witcomb any good? I always walk past and it's never open...

I'm in Brixton and at a bit of a loose end these days (off work to write a dissertation) and should have most of the tools you need (headset press, BB tools, myriad of other bike specific stuff). I'd gladly help you out for a Guinness or two. PM me if you're interested.

I never see Brixton as SE London.
Catford has Comptons which are my LBS and are pretty good - they do have a habit of not having stick though.

never said it was, just offering, I'm not that far from Edwardes

Hi - thanks for the offer. I'm gonna go with the blokes in Camberwell - I remember them now. My cones came loose on my way to work and they fixed them for free. Evans wanted 45 quid!!!!
Thanks again anyway
