Gabes speaks with a sensible tongue... The Pauls are really nice tho', they're great quality hubs AFAIK...
Maybe it's just me, but I think black hubs can look a bit cheap... My stealth HHSB will have a silver Phil on the rear, everything else will be black... -

get some profiles ;)

That hub looks really badly laced. -

Gonna be controversial and say I'm not really loving the paul cranks, there is something a bit 'Cast iron gate' about them.

The profiles are more HHSB but you can't beat unslotted (I don't like slotted Phils for some reason) silver high flange Phils in my book... Pure class...

Anybody got any ideas about cleaning gear for these, Brasso, or is it too abrasive? Scared shitless about dissolving the anodising/paint.

I'm off to NY in august & will be slipping away from the missus & kids for a quick purchase at some point. It will be noice silver high flange Phils for me (and whatever else I can sneak in).

See what I mean about the images?
What is that readybrek glow all about? -

i've got the non-slotted phils in silver and they're luurvely, but I did see some slotted ones on a stunning merkx down by Design Museum, and thought they looked very nice, just that little bit different and maybe a touch more forgiving on an older looking bike...
@50/14: Autosol seems to be fine if you've got small enough fingers to get at the barrels...

The only thing that bothers me about Profile hubs is that they're a bit candlestick/turned wooden table leg...

profile's charm is in their bmx 4 pawl hubs, that sound like a swarm of bees when freewheeling. best bike sound ever. you could always tell when someone was running a profile rear hub.

Bugger, just noticed the phils on http://www.treefortbikes.com/ are fixed/free, anyone know a place in the US that does fixed/fixed at a good price?
Profile has a bad taste for me, my local BMX shop, back in the day, only had primo cranks, so that is what I had, can't switch to profile now. And they are about 150-160 a pair.

$250 US, so £125. better design than phils, with the dust cap. coming out with double fixed at end of summer ;)

£250 US? whats that? ;)
My bro is in the states for a month, so I am gonna order some new hubs to bring back, no duty, postage, etc.
Seem to be about £110 for Paul's in black and about £120 for Phil's in silver (can't find any cheap in black). Originally wanted all black wheels, but the price of the silver Phils is maybe changing my mind.
Chainline thing is not a problem as they are for a new build.
Prob 70/30, road/track so want durable and smoothness.
Are phils much better, worth sacrificing the black for?
