Speaking of dubstep, I was at burning man last year and had a particularly excelent time grooving to a set mixed by a gentleman going by the name Freq Nasty. I asked the people around what the wonderful sound emanating from the speaker stacks was and they proclaimed it 'dubstep'.
So I come back to London and buy some dubstep mixes (including some Freq Nasty stuff, but also Skream and such like) but find it just a little too minimalist. So I wonder if maybe he was drifting around dubstep but spending a bit of time in the breaks and drum'n'bass world (which I know better). Or maybe what San Franciscoites call dubstep is a different beast from the UK version?
Given that information can anybody make suggestions on mixes/nights I might enjoy in this genre? i.e. A bit of dark dubstep with dnb/breaks.
thanks!

cool - thanks - looks like iTunes has their albums. So I'll give them a proper* listen when I get home.
*proper = 800 odd watts of sub-woofer - laptop speakers and dubstep just seems like a crime.

I only heard of the "genre" Dubstep around a year ago,
it turns out its very similar to music I was paying around with when I was 16-17 around 2001.

not really the right environment unless you have a bowel-shuddering sub in your bedroom but Sounds of the Universe is one record shop that has been takin the rudeboy London talent to the massives. Dope comps and twelve inches.
good website too.
can you tell me what/where the main dubstep nights are, and recommend any labels i should check out?
