Miche advanced crank + BB?

Posted on
  • Just fitted a new Miche Advanced crank with Miche 107 iso BB and no matter how tight i screw everything the chainline (as measured with vernier calipers) is 45mm. When i bought the bb and crank i was told that it should be 42mm...to match my rear hubs. Anyone had or have the same problem?

  • you get a little bit of leeway with the bb because it doesn't have flanged cups, try moving it over a few mm

  • I had the total opposite - chainline was about 43mm, wanted 45mm. Just adjust the cups sideways like MrSmith said.

You sure cranks are fully seated on the spindles?

  • Just updating this thread....anyone else got Mich Advanced crank...if so, what bb you using with it. I did as above and moved my bb over 2mm but it stuck out quite a bit on the non-drive side and was creaking a bit? So i bought an fsa 103mm bb and now the chainlines exactly 42mm according to my calipers...bit odd? I really need it to be 41mm (to match my gran compe rear hub and phil sprocket)...campy looks like the only 102 bb...which is 5mm off what miche recommend??

  • if it works dont question it.

  • it works...but is noisey as the chainlines out a bit?

  • I use a campagnolo chrous 102mm bottom bracket with my miche cranks as I had the same problem. Works fine, silent and smooth.

  • i have the same cranks.
i use a miche primato bb. mine sticks out a couple of mm after adjusting the chainline, but no creaking.

  • Lucky7, you using campy 102 with the new Miche advance....you get 42mm or 41mm chainline?

No, I am using it with the older Miche cranks. But it sounds like they are having the same chain line issue as with them. Not sure of the measurement. But my back hub is a suzue pro max sb. I have also used them with a gran compe back hub too.

  • 102mm, iso, bb....campy seems to be the only one...expensive!

  • the chorus bb is better than the miche one. it has a flanged cup, the miche doesn't the miche i had kept coming loose in the bb shell.
also the removal tool is the same

  • Bought one..£45!

  • I'm tempted to get one. The Miche bb might as well be a lump of lead.

  • If anyone needs, I've got a surplus record carbon bb 102mm English threaded PM me.

  • On another note, does anyone ride a dia compe gran compe rear hub? With my Phil sprocket i get a 41mm chainline? I thought most track type hubs were supposed to be between 42 - 43mm. Anyone ride the same setup?

  • hello,

I have no clue about fitting bb's and getting the chainline right and spacing and all that stuff because i've never had a fixed gear bike yet, and i havn't been involved in the building of one, and i dont have the tools, so i guess i'm asking whether you think i'll have the same problem as you guys experienced? seen as i have a miche bb and a miche advanced crank set, plus english threaded frame, and a set of soma track hubs... i guess it's all in the hub size right? anyway, I've still got my BB in mint condition and can still take it back to the shop, so guess i was just worrying... and fishing for tips/reassurance...

what was the conclusion/solution? in beginners language?

  • I just put some miche advanced on my bareknuckle. Running suzue pro max hubs. Chainline was spot on first time. Do have a bit of creaking depsite lubing the BB shells (which are snug) - suspect I have to take it all apart and lube the contact points between the shells and the BB cartridge to get rid of it.

So, basically, I dunno why anyone else had a problem.
