  • that's well nice looking and all, wonder if the girlfriend would like it....

  • what, caspar nice looking? are you drunk madam!

  • Caspar will be all too keen to tell you about how many other peoples' girlfriends have "liked it"

  • it's £80

  • I saw a bike veeery similar to that hidden round the back of a shed on trinity buoy wharf. Oh hey winston I'm going to axe a couple of girls.

then I'm going to ask some other girls if they want it. :)

  • Axe? not your usual choice of tool then

  • And let's face it there a great number of tools on this site.

    :)

  • hey winston, there is a girl called anna who is interested.

    Few questions:

    What size wheelz are they?

Is that a rod brake I see on the front? If yes does it work?

Will the bike explode 5 mins after purchase?

Does it come with the SlackChain® pictured? ;)

  • those bikes never break, they are allover the place in oxford (well not allover, but nearly) and never get any service, get left in the rain, etc. Oil occasionally and you're set

  • I found one that is almost identical to this in the street a couple of days ago, but it's got a freewheel... need to make it pretty.

  • it's £80

    surely you mean 80p?

  • It's £80 including the pictured caspar.

  • what, caspar nice looking? are you drunk madam!

Caspar will be all too keen to tell you about how many other peoples' girlfriends have "liked it"

Winston will be keen to tell you that said 'other peoples girlfriends' have liked it from him XX years ago.

  • hey caspar,

    Few questions:

What size wheels are they? 26'

Is that a rod brake I see on the front? If yes does it work? Rod front & back both opertaional.

Will the bike explode 5 mins after purchase? No, with a bit of TLC it'll last for a looooong time yet.

    Does it come with the SlackChain® pictured?** Yes.......** ;-}

    A good buy I reckon.

  • I've had one of these for about 12 years, my old man salvaged it. Mine is SS not fixed, and weighs a ton, but it really is a thing of beauty, it has such a lovely ride. AFAIK this model is the Roadster from 1936. I've just put mine back on the road for my missus and she loves it.

  • Do they come in waves?

A bunch of new folk come on and they are all about posting silly questions without doing some research first, then they all catch on and the next wave of new kids DO utfs, but they don't notice when things have been posted.

Can we study this so that we can predict the patterns?
How about a warning message before anyone in the nursery is allowed to post?

"Wait! Make sure you really want to send this comment. Do you think this is something that someone else might have already asked multiple times? If so, don't post about it again or you will have an angry deaf bob jackson enthusiest grumbling at you.
Have you checked the date on the thread your posting to? If your inquiring about something that was offered for sale more than six months ago, you might want to wait and send a PM (when you are out of the nursery) addressing the fact that you doubt the seller has it anymore, but you thought it was worth a go anyways. Do this or you will have a cranky American woman taking the piss out of you.
If you are certain that the post you are about to submit will not cause people to create tags about you or ridicule you unduly, then post away!"

I'm amazed at your ability to post something amazing in the morning, the Ed part really made me giggle.

There should be one for me, "Do you really want to post that, no, really?!" etc.

  • sorry !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    had to quote you http://www.londonfgss.com/post877369-16.html

  • The resurrection of this thread just reminded me of the old Hercules that my mother found and put in the garden as an ornament that at least the cat enjoys.. It's got a freewheel on the back at the moment but it's a flip-flop hub and has a lockring thread on the unused side.

Unfortunately because it's old and my mum likes leaving it out in the garden it's all rusted and unusable but I like to think it's at least being appreciated whilst it falls into disrepair instead of just being on a tip.

    Meh!

I did notice the date of the thread before posting ... but I still thought it worth asking as there didn't seem to be much interest at the time and it kind of sounded to me like the bike might be forgotten about in storage somewhere, especially with it being vintage and more of an upright style and also from the way the OP phrased details of its whereabouts and the fact that the thread wasn't closed. I considered sending a pm but thought the more thoughtful thing to do would be to post on-thread cos maybe others might be interested to know the update with this particular bike and at least an update would close the thread.

Sorry if anyone thinks I got it wrong and feels inconvenienced by my outrageous eleven word past post dredge!

At the risk of irritating you further I might add that I didn't actually UTFS to find this thread - it just caught my eye under the 'similar posts' bit at the bottom of the screen...oh and I graduated nursery back in 2008 - just been keeping a relatively low profile since!

Guess I may be in for a load more grief now .. ;p
