ERD of open sport?

  • searched all over and get everything from 605 to 611 ffs!
with a few on 607 it looks the most likely, but really how cockish of mavic to not list ERDs on the website.

anyone who's built these up actually KNOW what the erd is on mavic open sports?

    much obliged, guv'nor

  • Yeah, I've 'erd of 'em. So what?

  • ERD fight ERD fight !

  • you wanna ride tonight, don't you BMMF?

I suggest divulging the info may avoid you having any *nasty accidents..*on the way

    you toilet slag

  • Toilet Slag sounds like hardcore limescale remover manufactured in Holland (slaag, probably).

PS. I wanna drink tonight. Riding will be purely incidental.

  • I used 611 and this spoke calc http://www.recumbents.com/wisil/spokes!.asp

    Everything worked out.

    Good luck.

  • p.s nice to see another cheap skate like me keeping it real with the open sports.

  • cheers tommy!

they're for my original slavebike, a beater of such grotesqueness it will disgust and shock the nation

  • p.s nice to see another cheap skate like me keeping it real with the open sports.

i've done hundreds of miles on my open sport miche combo. fine rims they be.

  • i've done hundreds of miles on my open sport miche combo. fine rims they be.

I once came all the way home on my rims, I would like to put it down to theft, but the truth is I was going through a 'can't afford tyres' phase.

  • Open Sport on SJS hubs and ACI spokes have done me fine for many a mile, with a few potholes thrown in. Still true as when they were built.

See attachment for info from Mavic data sheet on Open Sport rims.
However, I think I used ERD as 608, which may have come from spocalc.

Spoke length came out spot on.

  • Just to re-state, data sheet attached earlier is for Open Sport (although file name says Open Pro - I named it wrongly). Data sheet quotes spoke support diameter to be 606mm, but you need to add about 1mm each end for the distance from the spoke support to the bottom of the slot of the nipples. Therefore, approx 608mm effective diameter (ERD).

  • many thanks Chris

  • In the spocalc lookup tables there's a note saying they've calculated ERD by adding 3mm (1.5mm each end) to the Mavic spoke support diameter.

    CXP33 from the data sheet @ 595mm +3mm = 598mm in spocalc

  • adoubletap: I dunno what the extra should be, 1mm may not make much difference. Are all spoke nipples the same?

  • they range from 12mm to 16mm
dt's spokecalc gives a 1mm of difference for spoke length between ERD of 608 and 609.

    other calcs give the same.

gives me 298 and 294 @ 609 for the hubs I'm using, so I'm going to go with that as it's usually better to round up, it shouldn't be too far out if the ERD is 608.

    hopefully
