  • Hi all, it's my first post here. I've just had my bike stolen and I'm absolutely distraught, as a working London messenger my bike means everything to me, and now it's gone I'm really fucked.

I'm sorry to report it's not fg or ss but as everyone here is out on the roads regularly I felt it would be OK to post details here.

    I can't believe it.

The red devil has been taken from me.

My new... NEW bike has just been stolen. I'm absolutely devastated... I was at the Prince George in Hackney, cycled down with a few chums, there were loads of flash bikes chained up, a few courier ones as well so I didn't think twice about locking up the beast to a lamp post. I came outside at around 11:30 and it was gone.

Millions of thoughts of distraught have been running through my head to publish but what can I say now. Anyone who knows me, who followed my previous thread or has taken but a fleeting interest in my blog will know that bike was my life and soul, my carriage through life and the fruit of endless labour, and now some cunt's got it and is probably laughing to his mates about what a fucking find he got.

The thing that really gets me is that there's every chance this parasite thinks that some sort of moral justice has occurred. They probably thought, wow, that's a nice bike, whoever could afford that is probably better off than me, so fuck it, they can buy a new one. Well I'm not well off, I struggle to get by and I work fucking hard to make it through, and that's that.

    Fucking.

    CUNTS.

I guess if there was any time to be proactive about it, the time is now. So please, I beg of you, to keep an eye out for this bike:

It's a LeMond Etape, shiny red with white logos. 8-speed with 2 front cogs, STI levers, some scratches where my lock has been knocked against it. I can't think of anything remarkable about it except what I've just described.

    : ( :( : (

  • sorry to hear that mate

apparently that pub is a bit of a hotspot for thieves, quite a few people have had bikes nicked from outside (search the forum for more info)

  • That's a f*ing nice bike, so sorry to hear it got nicked.

I live in that part of town, will keep an eye out for a bike like that. They're not common...

Should we just post here if we have any leads? Or do you want to share an email addy (suitably anti-spammed of course)?

  • The prince george strikes again... this is getting ridiculous.

    Sorry to hear about this.

  • check brick lane early on sunday.

  • there was another place round kingsland road that someone mentioned too? don't remember, unfortunately. some kind of breakers' yard or something.

  • will post this on the stolen bike blog tomorrow morning, as the amount of drink in me prevents posting it now.

check the market on kingsland rd near middleton st, the geroge is a prime target for professional thieves. i will offer a reward of 100 quid out of my own pocket for this bike (stolen bike london policy)

  • prince george is THE target for bike thieves. nowhere else comes close. i wouldn't even lock up a child's tricycle outside that shit-hole of theftery.

    eyes peeled.

  • There are quite few designers on this site, it would be great if someone could knock up a professional looking sign to put up saying "professional bike thieves operating in this area".

The more offical looking the better, and the better the chance of it not being taken down.

As it stands I will never be visiting that pub on a bike.

  • Sorry to say this.. but has anyone ever found their bike?... I have lost 2 bikes in the four years I lived in london...one of them was a 50 quid halford job... and the other one a giant...:(

    Me !

My (uninsured) Klein got nicked - the following day I got a call from Cycle surgery in Camden - who had only built it up for me the previous month - asking why I had sold my very expensive bike so quickly ?

I told them I hadn't - they said they will stall the bloke and I ran (around two miles) like a bastard to get there - bloke said he had paid £20 and insisted it was his - police called - he stuck around - got nicked - I went home with my bike that had now got a big dent in the top tube.

Mind you I have had around 9 or 10 other bikes stolen with no luck.

  • 9 or 10 bikes stolen?! Fkn 'ell..

  • 1 and i got it back

  • sorry to hear it.... if you are in the george with a bike best to leave when they drawn the curtains.

  • The more offical looking the better, and the better the chance of it not being taken down.

    How about this then?

It costs about £400 to make an official looking sign.

Or... colour printing and lamination for £20 for lots of signs and zip tie them all around the area.

One real sign is expensive and not very effective, 30 fake signs are cheap and may actually be effective.

pipwish, love the straight blade forks, nice, bar spins ?
