Polo Timeout Article this week

  • yeah so timeout did a cycling issue this week. basically it's the usual garbage (a race between bike, car, ped, bus around london, a very odd point/counterpoint piece about cycling in london, bike buying guides, etc) but near the back there's a writeup about polo/rollapaluza.
this combined with the radio interviewer at peckham polo tonight... it's a media explosion!
time to find something new to do?

    awesome shot of arrospok though...

  • why - do you think its a bad article or u just hate timeout

  • so, bring on the vitriol and the special type of bile we reserve for journalists who dare to write about our beloved fixed wheel bikes....

  • actually the article is pretty accurate, from what i can tell. i've not been to the brick lane courts but am a regular at peckham.
is bike polo for the masses, i guess is what i'm asking?

  • seriously misquoted.. "‘Half the skill is staying on your bike and not hitting other people"

does that sound like my style of play....?

  • pretty good article i think. except the bit about ¨stop pedalling and you stop dead¨ :/

  • and the bit about the trixie chix turning tricks for money in brick lane

  • whoa missed that bit

  • and the bit about Max kick-starting bike polo in brick lane... sorry max but props need to be given to the OG.

  • lol

  • word!

  • true! i just wanna clear up that i didnt say that either!

  • does OG stand for Ross?

  • does OG stand for Ross?

    ;)
    true, ross, keith etc...
    let's say brick lane OG

  • does OG stand for Ross?

I think Ross deserves the "props" for starting the London Polo thing but the Brick Lane games have caught on more strongly than the Mint Street games did. Power of the internet I guess and a reflection of the fixed wheel explosion (TM)

Surely we should all be thanking Tim Berners-Lee then?

  • Geekenger

  • looks good to me!

  • Surely we should all be thanking Tim Berners-Lee then?

    He already has his knight-hood.

Maybe we should be blaming Tim for all the kiddy porn?

  • "Usually bikes have a single gear and no brakes" - great stuff, I missed that first time round. (It doesn't seem to refer to only those playing polo, she seems to mean most of the bikes there.)
