Wanted: Wine bottle corks

Posted on
  • so i have a whole bunch of polo mallets and i need to put some kind of stopper in the top. i'm thinking of whittling down some corks... only problem is i don't drink. are there any winos on here who can sort me out? i can come collect anywhere in london......

  • Sure, they're £6.49 each ;)

(I'll have a look in my recycling tonight to see how many I have.)

  • Try your local wine bar...

  • You can buy big packs of them from most home brew places - they end up about 10p each (unless you want posher ones).

    e.g. http://www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/acatalog/Wine_Bottle_Corks_and_Stoppers.html

  • how have you done the grips for the mallets? You can use old inner tubes and stuff the end around and down in inside of the pole. Tape it with a bit of electrical tape and the jobs a good'un

  • those plastic ones are good value.

yeah that's what we did, but i'm after something to hold the end in place a bit better than just stuffing it down inside.....

that's what the electrical tape is for. you can get a pretty good mallet end with a bit of playing around

  • yeah i guess but i just fancy putting a cork in the end. i think it will hold better and will look nicer...

  • I've got a few in one of the drawers in the kitchen - I'll look them out for you

  • I have got a pair of brand new NJS wine corks - they are ISO not JIS so will go in a little further than normal but should be fine.

    £30 for the pair.

  • i tell you what... you buy the wine, i'll drink it and you can keep the corks... deal?

    NJS corks, hee hee.

    Can you recycle corks?

  • Can you recycle corks?

in a sense that you can reuse them as butt plugs, yes.

  • I have a few of them somewhere, if this sunday I pop in the tools morning are yours.

  • Very very small buttplugs.
Ideally what you want is to string some together unsing a brake cable. Fashioning some form of recycled anal beads.
