  • The lfgss masses have spoken... and they say they want to ride. To Cambridge.

Quite a few people on the Southend ride were keen to do some more long social rides, so here we go. Jonny has done this run a few times so hopefully will be there to guide us along, or at least supply us with reliable directions.

    Start time? Place? Any ideas.

  • this is the one we did last year...great route. loads of quiet country lanes

  • Cheers Desi, that does looks like a nice route. It seems that Brick Lane polo courts would be a good start place too.

  • Just putting the map up here:

  • Oh, NOW they wanna do long rides.. hmmph! ;)

    It's in the calendar.

  • would do it, but will be sitting on a lovely deserted beach in the greek island sunning myself (where no-one will complain about my skimpy attire :p )

  • im up for this, day after exams finish
60 miles in jeans will be new

  • Looks great. Count me in. The Saturday after my birthday so will need to ride off the previous weekends excess!

  • oxford's nicer.
    That's my input.

  • i forgot your headset!

pm me an address and i'll stick it in the post tomorrow morning...

  • would do it, but will be sitting on a lovely deserted beach in the greek island sunning myself (where no-one will complain about my skimpy attire :p )

    nope.

    the greeks will complain too

  • they will run screaming into the sea and drown themselves after witnessing the horror of dale's scrotal apocalypse.

  • it'll be an exodus of biblical proportions

  • the sight of dale's antipodean helmet will put them off tzatziki and humous for ever and ever.

  • I'll be sunning myself in Florida.

But PLEASE, can we have some rides on a Sunday in future?

  • sunday is for church.

  • and polo

  • sunday is for tv

  • and early morning rides

  • really early morning!

  • i'm in!

want to buy muself a proper track frame rather than my old raliegh reynolds 531, whats the general consensus between hunting down something second hand and classic or buying something new like a dolan frame...?

  • depends how much time and energy you've got really.

and money - it's generally more expensive to go second hand/classic, but often for better spec.

you should check with dale, or roberto, or jos.

  • if you're a 52cm frame kinda guy. there's someone on the forum selling a dolan bike cheap.

  • Hey Ed, good to see you on the forum. There have been loads of discussions (arguements) about this topic, if you want to check them out, use the search function and type 'second hand frame' or 'off the peg'. To summarize though: To each his own, both have their merits.

Check out this threa for cheap track frames: http://www.londonfgss.com/thread4381.html

  • oh is this the ed?
