  • Has anyone out got a youtube or whatever clip of that Gomez crash during the Tour of Flanders of sunday? I'm trying to find it so I can mail it to a friend but I can't seem to find it.

    thanks...

  • It was on there on Sunday but got removed, presumably for copyright breaching. Shame as it was spectacular!

  • I saw it live on tv but I wanted to show it to a friend who hasn't seen it.
I wouldn't wish that crash on my worst enemies...

  • He got off quite lightly considering. He has admitted it was entirely his own fault as he wasn't looking where he was going.

  • oooft. Sore one, got to keep your eye on the ball. He was lucky for sure.

  • thanks!
True about him not looking where he was going...

  • broken/ fractured elbow only, that is lucky.

  • brutal

  • blimey... his bike went flying :S

  • look at the front wheel, jeez

  • all that carbon, tut tut.

I can hear Jobst Brandt muttering "32 spokes..."

  • commentary is hilarious...

'yayayayayaya ooh la la - he didn't see the little flower garden"

  • What was the flag dude doing?

I'm suprised there wasn;t anything bad in the Ghent - Bubblegum, the new decent whilst safer has a few corners where you could go flying.

  • all that carbon, tut tut.

Actually you'll notice that most riders in the tour of flanders have low profile alloy rims with 32 spokes, just like in paris-roubaix. A few teams had carbon back wheels.
I'm not sure his wheels are carbon at all... his fork was, clearly...

  • Ambrosio aluminium rim wasn't it?

I've never really looked at them, tbh... I try not to look at things I know I probably can't afford!

  • did you think his wheels were carbon?

  • Apparently even the riders are carbon-based these days.

  • While we're on the subject of special gear for the tour of flanders and paris roubaix: apparently tom boonen will have special front forks on his paris-roubaix bike as well as a special rear-triangle. Other Quickstep riders will only have a special fork and if they want they can get double bartape (that's a quote...). QS will we riding on 25 to 27mm tires. The whole silence-lotto team will be riding on special cross-frames with cross-brakes in case it gets to muddy.
Do we care? Errrr... not really, probably, it's funny to see how over here (in Belgium) people go crazy for two weeks each year about these races.

  • i care. paris roubaix is one of the highlights of the year.

  • Me too, I'm gutted I had to stay in England and miss the fun this week.

  • did you think his wheels were carbon?

I did by the way it fell apart. But then again, I know absolutely fsck all about 'proper' road bikes anyway. Have I made a bad, bad mistake?

  • Ant says they're aluminium rims, that'll do for me. Anyway, wouldn't carbon splinter?

As for P-R, I'll definitely be watching it. What a magical race, with so much history surrounding it.

And Sean Kelly, what a legend.

  • Woah. That is mental! :-o
