    enjoy

  • That's so cool. Google Current TV (on Sky) shows you top search terms.. and I wondered why "http://www.seetickets.com" was a top term. It's thickies typing a url into google for Glastonbury tickets! :)

  • i'd rather slide down a razor blade using my ball-sack as a brake than attend this filthy, quagmire of a bourgeois knees-up, sitting there surrounded by a polluted sea of self-satisfied, mediocre people, nodding their brainless heads to jay-z, and agreeing sagely that their 99 problems don't include a bitch either, but instead consist of the daily plummeting returns on their buy-to-let portfolio.

  • i agree.

  • I'll keep my ball sack intact and suffer the mud. Can I have your corporate tickets then pj? ;)

  • of course. if i get one, being such a well known corporate cock-sucker.

I guess your an All Tomorrows Parties fan then.

  • i went once.

it was like an indier than thou apocalypse.

i watched teenage fanclub and enjoyed that. i enjoyed the guinness. some shit band called lightning bolt played about five times, and lots of 'unique' indie children ran around drinking magners, looking indistinguishable from one another. .

Sounds like a regular evening in North London.

  • i've been to Glasto twice but back in the early 90's... i have to say it was one of the best weekends i have ever ever had... great people, good bands, no pretentious wankers, no image, it was just about music and having a larf.

I think theres too much hype these days... not worth the hassle, theres loads of other really really cool festivals going on which resembel glasto many years ago, i would go to them anyday rather than glasto... sorry Michael!

    +1

I have been 8 or 9 times (?) - Played there (2001 & 2003) - went down the shitter pretty quickly over my visits (as soon as we started playing ;P) - of course there will always be the 'it was better in my day' element to any experience but there was definitely a very clear cultural shift with the explosion of popularity over the last few years.

It is hard to ignore the change from loads of mad stuff run by enthusiasts for free (the human fly wall - if anyone remembers - was great fun on a drunk summer's afternoon) - to the corporate Orange mobile pone recharge promotional behemoth.

It is hard to complain about something being a victim of its own success without sounding like a reactionary but in the case of Glastonbury it is hard not to.

Still, there are other festivals where that spirit still thrives.

@Bobob - some of the best weekends for me too :) - although I don't do the mud thing.

  • Me and the better half are in our 30's now so of course we are biased.... we went to Latitude this year after many years out of the festi scene and found it really laid back, full of young families/groups who werent looking for mainstream bollocks, (saying that we saw some amazing performances like Turin Breaks and CSS) but also some realy good comedy, fun and frolics... times change, people change, we have to adjust.

    Tynan, i'm with you!

+1 - I am sure we don't sound any different from all the old hippys who bored us when we were 21 ! :D

    :) - it's all good.

Now excuse me I am off to smoke some tea.

  • i'm 21 and have no desire to go to glasto.

I think the worst festivals i have ever heard of are:
1 Rainbow gathering (fucking hippies, lets all get in a forest, drop acid, talk about how green we are then not clean up)
2 The Big Green Gathering (see above)
3 Burning Man (went when I was 15 amazing, went again 2 years latter, horrid.)

    rip it up

  • Im with BoBoB Latitude is a lovely festival which I hope is not going to be corrupted a it get more popular. I am also going to Bestival again this year which in my opinion is the best festival in the UK.

  • well its in the name

  • Yeah it was voted the top festival of 2007, i havent been but will possibly try to this year, maybe ride down there :)

I sometimes sit back and go through in my head what i've just been talking/whinging about with my mates.... 'it's quite loud in here'.... '...when i was a teenager we were never allowed to do that..' etc etc, i feel really REALLY old :(
