  • this might be a stupid question but what happened to Pop-Tarts?

I can't seem to find them anywhere and am longing for that toasted tart hit early in the morning.

If anyone knows of a supermarket or store central or heading south west that stocks them can they let me know because I am currently stuck.

    Cheers

  • they are rank, don't deserve to be on the shelves!

  • there's half a one stuck to the carpet in my hallway at the moment.
i'll ask my flatmate where you buy them? ;-)

  • Thatcher abolished them along with free school milk.

  • I pointed these out in Tesco on Monday. The strawberry ones are awesome. Rip off though. I'd never pay for them. For breakfast I usually have water, whey protein, maltodextrin, nesquick and creatine. After that I'm too full to eat anything. I have a teacake at work at about 10am usually.

  • andrew you are survving on powder? WTF?!

  • Turns out they were seriously hazardous, all that sugar heated to near-nuclear temperatures was hurting stupid peoples' mouths. Think they were withdrawn for that, then again maybe just cos no one bought them much.

Happy hunting. Get me some Space Dust and a Texan Bar, and those wierd crispy-snacks that were like a puffy version of Frazzles, when you find the Secret Shop What Sells All Those Disgusting Things That Have Disappeared.

Just in the morning. I need to boost my calorie intake because I'm doing weights daily and have extremely fast metabolism.

  • hah, I was just talking about this at the weekend!

    by teacake do you mean:

    a) chocolate dome filled with extremely soft marshmallow and a biscuit base.

    b) sweet bread/cake roll with dried fruit and a sugary glaze.

    c) a savoury bread roll eaten anywhere north of Huddersfield (also known as a cob or bap).

d)a plain, flattish sweet cake with sugar and cinnamon sprinkled on the top.

  • i always understood a teacake as being a plain, flattish sweet cake with sugar and cinnamon sprinkled on the top. that's what my nanna used to present as 'tea cake'.

  • pop tarts are rare and bling, but i can get some, and for a small fee i will send them to any of you.

  • Is Nabisco NJS certified though?

  • yes.

  • I'm sure they had them in Tesco (Fulbourn Near Cambridge, so no where near London) yesterday I will go back and look after work. I may put them on the classifieds and sell to the highest bidder if they have them.
Only good cold never heat them up. Although hot or cold they taste like cardboard with Jam.

    whaaaaaat?!

tea cakes are a) chocolate dome filled with extremely soft marshmallow and a biscuit base. :)

they were so good. don't eat them now (not veg).

  • that's a tunnocks teacake. A brand name if you will. the generic teacake for all except those in hudderfield (was it?) a teacake is basically a hot-cross bun without the cross.

FYI, that huddersfield variation is similar in Hull, where a plain bread roll (bap!) is called a bread cake (or ''bred kearke'' if you know the accent that means something to ya). Just so yoou know, in case you get confused in the chippy.
