But those Kitchen Aid mixers cost a million bajillion pounds.

I'd say that's more Camden than Shoreditch.

Never understood the craze for Kitchen Aids....our own, British Kenwood Chef is far superior.

The Kenwood Chef is a bit ugly though. I can't believe I'm discussing this!

Are kitchen Aids good Aids or bad Aids?

I just googled. Still no good. It's the profile view:
And the Kitchenaid:
Just a lot more attractive to me. Not boxy, no knob that can break off, pared down design (what on earth is in the Kenwood that makes it need to be a box?).

Kitchenaid one is awesome compared with that POS Kenwoo one.

Pah, I inherited my parents' wedding present one until it eventually blew up after 30 years of breadmaking. Why buy something new, when the old ones do the job just as well?

I was a chef for 10 years, have used both, and I would pick my mixer like I would pick my bike, functionality over form any day....
Higher capacity bowl
higher power
better speed control
superior dough hook
lasts longer
has a huge amount of accessories and upgradesIt's not pretty and you rarely see it in style magazines, so if that's important to you then, you'll be suckered into Kitchen Aid, SMEG, Indy fab, campy pizza wheels.

I've got TWO of those, went through a period of baking my own sour-dough, rye bread and these things are the business for dough-kneading!

Both form and function matter. You make very convincing arguments on function.

Is this a good time to mention that I've had to take a second job as a kitchen hand in a bakers?
I knead the dough.
I'll get my coat.

My father in law usd to work for Kenwood, apparently they nearly went under in the 50's (I think) cos the kenwood chef was too good. People bought it, did everything they needed and it never broke, so they never bought anything else. Once everyone who needed one had one the market died...
Not like todays equipment, you'll be lucky it lasts a week over its waranty...

Yeah, I've read it a few times. The follow-up wasn't as good. But I did like the bit where the whale attacked the squid.
