Oh, and I've installed Akismet anti-spam thing. Users who have less than 10 posts get their posts passed through Akismet to determine whether it's spam... if Akismet thinks it is, I get notified.

i think we should have a vote to determine whether the person is a spammer or not...maybe a poll? :)

Spammers are easy to spot, they usually have animated avatars.

you're just jealous...i can make you one if you want.

Nah, you're fine. I'd rather people read my posts than be distracted by the avatar.

thats not going to happen...don't worry.
I'm deleting all their posts and banning them.
Anyone have a problem with this?
2 yesterday:
1 attempting to flog iPhone stuff... new member with no other posts.
1 who registered in August 2007, had posted 10 times, all posts linked to a cycling store online trying to flog things... nothing of value (to us) in any of his posts.
So long as people spend more time being social with us and chatting to us and participating in the forum, they won't be looked upon as spammers. As soon as the vast majority of things they post could be perceived to be spam, I'll delete them.
Notable exceptions will be made for those who hang out with us in real life: smear, scott, Jos, Roberto, FGL... basically those who have home-grown little businesses and whose stuff we're generally interested in.
