Why are web designers so fixated with creating paper based media online?
-
• #6
I've decided Condor are dumb as well as over-priced and rude.
They're missing a trick by not using their heritage and stock to become the UK version of Harris Cyclery. And they're doing so doubly by not having anything but their own product on their website.
That they then created a Flash only website with nothing accessible/spiderable by Google or other search engines is full on stupidity. They should sack their web designer for letting it happen, and then sack whoever it was that made the decision and told the web designer to do it.

i agree about flash sites in general, but all too often businesses that aren't too web-savvy get sold these over-specced, gimicky sites. just the way it goes, i think.
i don't really see what's so over-priced about them, to be honest. The bikes/Frames are very good, and if you want one, then that's what they cost. I've never felt for a second that i was ripped off when i bought one, but maybe i'm just stupid, eh

Was in there again today. Apparently the 2008 Potenza in the shop was an attempt to build something like the pista classico but for a slightly cheaper price. They failed, so there is no actual 08 potenza.
I'm pretty happy having just blown my entire cyclescheme voucher. Bring on the free bike!

what did you get?
-

2007 Potenza frame (on sale, only £125 more than Pista) Goldtec hubs, open pro rims, newton stem, deda anatomic bars, arione saddle.
Roll on May!

what is the difference in the potenza frame? is it those drop out chain screws?
-
• #12
That, and the tubes are round profile made of a different steel. Can't remember exactly what it's called. SAT maybe?
Geometry is the same as the Pista, but with straight forks. -
• #13
right, didn't realise it was different tubing. bugger.
-
• #14
"COM 12.5 = ZeroUno - high strength non-heat treated steel
SAT 14.5 = Zero - same metal as ZeroUno but heat treated
EOM 16.5 - same heat treated steel as Zero but with KET"
(ket is a kind of bead blasting treatment)
bareknuckles were made from com 12 but didn't have any fancy diamond tube profiles like the sat14 pistas.
potenzas were made from eom16.5 and had those nice pauls dropoutsi would guess the butting profiles are thinner on the heat treated tubes

Just dropped into Condor to look at the Potenza. £500 for a steel frameset that weighs 2 kgs is decent value no?
The decals/paintjob looks decent too. But the welding on the fork.... fucking hell. Looks rougher than your mum after a stag weekend in Liverpool. Can I live with that? Will other forumengers beat me up behind the bike shed?

Replace with carbon?
-

Test ride one if you can - very different ride to a pista or most other otp fixed bikes.
I love mine but mainly because it's twitchy agile and fast. It isn't however comfortable, practical or relaxing.
Anyone seen this downstairs at Condor?
Out of my price range but a very, very pretty bike.
