  • in the process of trying to convert an old freewheel to fixed for bike polo. the forks are knackered and i need some new ones, but work is a bit thin on the ground right now so i can't afford to spend much. anyone got an old paid of forks, 1" threaded, with a 170mm steerer?

also need a front brake set up too. and a set of wheels too, if setting up a suicide hub proves beyond my ability... and maaaaaybe some cowhorn bars too, tho i'm fiddling about on the old ones with a hacksaw......

anyone help me out? i izzzz ppoooor freelanceer with no work right now, so take pity on me. anyone hooking me up will be the recipient of a tasy vegan cake (if they so desire....)

    cheers

  • i can donate, crappy MTB lever and shit brake, plus chopped track bars, maybe even cables.

  • ooooh i will take all of those!

  • how about a black front wheel, small flange, just need rim tape and skewer?!

if you want, could relace your rear wheel to a cheap system x hub if you want

  • ooooh your cake just got bigger!

skewer is the bit that goes through the hub right?

and rim tape, you put that on the inside of the rim to cover the spokes?

how much would the system x cost? where's the best place to pick on up?

sorry fro the noob question, i know nothing.

  • I got a less than pretty track wheelset fo cheap if your still on the look out.

£10 to relace might even have new spokes in right length, how many hole rim?

  • 36 hole rim,
spokes are roughly 11.5 inches in length, if that helps?
    £10 seems fair enough!

  • I've got a pair of old chromed steel front forks, not here at the moment, give me a shout if your interested and i'll drag them back from south of the river and check sizes. you can probably have them for a pint :)

cheers for the links! sadly the wheels i already have and need to convert are 36 hole which are A out of stock on that site and B nearly twice the price (for an extra 4 holes?!?). i suppose using 4 less spokes will will the structural integrity.....?

think i've got some forks coming to me at bike polo on sunday, but those ones from freemans will be a good backup.

    cheers!

  • if your hub is drilled 36 you need 36 spokes, if your rim has 36 holes you need 36 spokes....

  • figured as much, but it never hurts to ask!
