A friend of mine had some keyhole type exploration and slicing done. He spent a few days at home, leg elevated, doing nothing, then was crutched for another week. I think he actually made about three days, then wore a brace to stop him doing anything stupid, and took to limping for a while. I think, however, that it was more than a month before he was back on the climbing wall, but took to swimming within a fortnight.
But then he doesn't cycle.
And his procedure might have been different.
So this might be of absolutely no help whatsoever. -

Had my right knee done about 15 years ago after I tore it running (mugs sport tbh lol), had a week off work and about 6 or 7 weeks off the bike but have had no problems at all since (with that knee). I would advise flat pedals when you get back to cycling at least for the first few months

Had both knees done, first one in 1991, the second around 93ish.
Not problem with either since and it didn't take long to heal, had to take it easy for a couple of months.
Did some swimming to build up before riding.Think I have the removed cartilage in a jar somewhere!

Cheers for the responses.
Looks like I'll have to ease up a bit on my 50x14 gearing :)The new bike is not far away, either :(
I might put it off until I get back from Oz. -

My bro had it done done and it didn't slow him down for long.
But then he's a meat-headed psycho who neither feels pain nor rides. Think Chopper but with an attitude problem. And yes, he's a screw.
Don't forget
Yesterday I received the wonderful news that I require surgery on my right knee. Has anyone had it before?
I'm interested in the timescale more than anything else, as I am going to Oz for a month in September, and would like to be reasonably recovered by then.
I have had a bit of a look on the tinterwebs and they reckon about a week on crutches and at least a month off the bike.
How long did you need?
