won't be the strongest wheel in the world, but it'll work.

tekkaberg the chain line look good but...... was it essential to move that far the hub?... ]
obviously it was.
you've got the correct axle width and a decent chainline.
that's all you need, enjoy it!

It looks a bit weird, but you won't be able to see it when you're riding the bike. As soon as you start doing that, you'll forget all about the rear hub. Do what RPM says. Get out and enjoy it. :-)

yeah but i don't undernstand why he did all this......i tought it could be enought to put a spacer between the hub and the sprocket
-
• #6
doesn't work like that, the "sprocket" (or in this case a freewheel) screws on to the hub.
So to get the chainline anything like straight you have to space the hub shell over on the axle.

• #7
yes, originally the hub had a threaded cassette freewheel, which is much wider than the ss freewheel.
that's why you have to re-dish the wheel

cant tell from the photo.
it will be centred over the axle, not over the hub, the spokes on the drive side will be longer on then on the non-drive... wait, that might not be right i will get back to you morningwisedepends on how far your are re-dishing it, you might need a rebuild.

why did you decide to convert this bike to SS?
-
• #10
yeah I have the rear brake and the wheel is perfectly in the middle
roxy why did you decide to convert this bike to SS?
why?....i suppose for the same reason as the others here, simplicity, less maintenance, better feeling and traction
cheers

oh yes, I understand that um, trying to rephrase, why convert that bike? Did you already have the frame?
-
• #12
when I bought it I didn't know that the rear frame was so large, and i tought that any road racer frame could fit a ss conversion.....

Hi guys, I just pick up my bike from the shop.......made ss with a new wheel
The shop guy had to reposition the hub within the wheel (due to the large rear size of my 80's raleigh)
is it a good job?...the chain line look good but...... was it essential to move that far the hub?...
cheers
