These apparently aren't great.
Look like they'll flex and take the paint off your forks.

The clamp on brakes are actually not bad. There are rubber pads around any exposed metal, so there is no chance of any unwanted metal on metal action. Also the guy at NJS blogspot is super helpful. Remember he sell clamps for oval forks as well as round.

Thanks tons, folks. I hadn't thought of njsframes dude until hassanr and kowalski said actually. I might just cop out and drill but I'm keeping options open.

A while back someone was seeking advice on selling there bike. I think the general cosensous was to split the parts...anyways he had a clamp on brake...dont know if he sold the bike, kept it or what but it might be worth whispering him and finding out if he wanted to sell the brake....if thats the option you opt for. Anyways link to thread:

Just got mine yesterday!
Remember...
The lever with them is for drops and won't work on flats / risers.
Got some NOS white dia-compe tech 4's on the way and will have a spare left lever if anyone's interested.
The clamp on front brakes are available in black too via other sources.
Put mine on and it's quite big in comparison with standard brakes.
I didn't want to drill and I'm not into going brakeless.
Other option is new forks.Clamps on nice and flush and shouldn't damage forks.

I was looking at Dia-compe Tech 4's actually Todd - I would maybe be interested if you want some £ for it? Ooh but do I go for white or red or silver? Decisions!
Are you sure it's suitable for risers, and what kind of clamp size is it?The black clamp-ons are available from http://www.trackstarnyc.com.

did you manage to get the tech 4's on your bars. I had trouble with me and had to open the clamp up a bit.

Dildo bars! But I want the anodized ones, a la the infamous pink velospace…
:(
$85? Doesn't that seem a bit high?
How do you reckon they make them? -

Elvis did you manage to get the tech 4's on your bars. I had trouble with me and had to open the clamp up a bit.
I had to bend the back clasp piece a bit so the screw could fit properly.
I also used the chrome clasp supplied with the keirin lever.

Was just wondering how people have got on with ordering from this blog...?
What are the shipping charges like? Tax?
Also how quickly do they get shipped/arrive? -

Cheers for the link Chris Crash, think I'm going to go for Ben's. Shipping is very reasonable. Just a little worried about getting taxed when they get shipped from the states to London.

the free issue of cog will make up for tax, and ben's is well on the level ask them to mark it as a gift, and at a low value.

I'm buying a rather nice track frame from my friend (as long as he doesn't change his mind and decide to keep it)
and I definitely don't want to drill it but I do want to ride with a front brake.
Does anyone know if the dia comp clamp on kit is a good bet?
http://www.benscycle.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=188_482&products_id=3748
So, I just bought a dinky new Neil Orrell track bike which is undrilled (photos coming soon). Since I'm not about to ride brakeless on the streets for various reasons including my own incompetence, I am in two (three?) minds about whether to a) drill the fork, b) get a new drilled fork or c) keep the fork undrilled and get one of those clamp-on brakes instead.
First two options are pretty easy for me to do, but I do like to fnck about with things and make them awakward and weird...... For option c), Max or Andy FGL (sorry, swigging straight Russian potato-water on a Sunday afternoon has blurred my memory) was telling me about these brakes that a bunch of Japanese folks that are too pussy for brakeless but are reluctant to drill (er, like me I suppose!) have clamped on their forks.
Anyone know anything about them or where to get them? Google has friend my brain and I don't know where to start!
