• Cos I've seen a guy trying to shift one in the pub near me tonight. Maverick forks, really compact geometry. I can probably grab it from him if it's yours.

  • Update - I got the bike off this guy last night and managed to track down it's owner, it's a really unique Solitude hard tail, I searched for that on Google and found him through his blog. Emailed him this morning and he's coming to get it this afternoon. I'm really pleased to have been able to get it back to him because even a quick look showed that it was custom and put together with care, all decent parts and obviously a pretty penny thrown at it. The scum that was selling it didn't even know what he had and let it go for 50 notes.

  • that was good of you. i hope the guy appreciates your work. i know most people would have just thought "bike-selling scum" and turned back to their pint.

  • I know what you mean but I took a look (was outside smoking at the time) and it had a Chris King headset, Thomson post and stem, decent Easton bars, Maverick forks which are like £450 RRP, that sort of spec, plus I could tell that it was a steel frame due to tube diameter so I thought fuck it, it's £50 and I reckon if I search enough forums for the lost and stolen threads I might find it.

Speaking to him earlier he seemed happy but his insurance had paid out already so I'm not sure where that leaves him. He was chuffed though cos he wanted the frame back due to it being custom and Solitude now being out of business.

  • :)

    Good stuff benanza !!!

I hope the guy covers your recovery money.

  • Cheers Tynan, he said that he would cover it so all good really. :-)

  • This one?

If so... that's beautiful. I'm sure the owner is dead chuffed to get it back.

You are surely going to bike heaven for this benanza.

  • velocity boy You are surely going to bike heaven for this benanza.

I am guessing Jesus might let him have a go on his Bridgestone PHM9.

  • He's just come round to my house to pick it up. Really nice guy, gave me my money back and a £50 reward! Bonus!

  • That's the one VB, frickin sweet as ain't it! It's seen better days though that's for sure, they'd stripped off the decals, changed the brakes to shitty bike hut hydraulics and the rohloff was loose, as was the headset. That said, the frame was fine and he told me it cost him about £900 so he's pretty damn happy.

He said he's going to put a note on his blog about it, leaving my name out of course.

  • nice work benanza, its allways nice to get a bike back to some one who loves it.

  • @ Chris, Yeah it was really cool to able to do it, I've been feeling really chuffed all day.

@ RPM, ha ha ha, that's excellent. It's nice to see things going the other way for a change eh!
