  • so i have this idea that people like you who know how to do tricks should share the knowledge with people like me who don't. videos would be good, but if not a good description is fine.

i would really like to learn to skid with a leg over the bars, and im shure there are people out there wanting to learn lots from the basics to the big stuff, so share what you got.

  • games of FIXED are a good way to learn stuff en mass, watching a trick and then throwing yourself in at the deep-end to avoid a letter... granted some of the tricks pulled seem a little, er, unorthodox, but its a laugh, especially if you're playing for prizes. i'm same, i want to learn the over the bar skid. i think my hipster twat jeans limit how high i get my leg though. hahaha! :)

  • All I'd like to master is a good, strong, happy ten minute trackstand,
And a wheelie. I just can't get those buggers.
Then I'd be a happy man.

That leg-over malarky looks sure to reinstate the old castrati into society.
At least Rinaldo will sound better, I suppose.

why? when would you need to trackstand for 10 minutes?

    Between 2.35pm and 2.45pm.

It's quite funny how you pick up on the track stand whilst leaving the 'skidding with a leg over the handlebar' unmentioned.

    :)

A: "I need to cut my legs off, shave my head, eat some glass and learn Spanish in two hours"

    B: "Why Spanish ?"

yeah....i've come to except such ridiculous skidding techniques...but track standing for 10 minutes would just be boring.

When those killer, final few pages of the book you weren't meant to be reading at work call to your soul on the way home.
Besides, if I know I can do it for ten, then two would be a piece of the proverbial piss.

    ha! yep! :)

  • why are trackstand competitions so loud?

  • Probably for the same reason that darts commentators always scream at the top of their lungs - because they feel that injecting some noise into the situation will somehow increase the tension/excitement.

Thing is, no-one watches darts - or trackstands - for that particular brand of excitement; however, this lack of noisy, boisterous excitement doesn't make darts any less interesting to me.

Trackstand comps, however, bore me rigid. I really don't see the point in being able to trackstand for any longer than it takes for a set of traffic lights to change. Then again, I don't really see the point of being able to skid with your legs wrapped around the toptube, either, but there you go.

  • well i have way to much free time on my hands.... and want to kill it by learning to do things i would only ever do to be a show off and have no usefull purpose. and i find track standing for long times boring, so its hurting my self skidding that kills the time.... and sewing.

  • Hey, some people enjoy skidding in yoga positions and that's just fine with me. I certainly appreciate the skill that's needed to avoid the proverbial face-skid.

Some people like their tea with no sugar, but I take a couple of spoons full in mine (three or four if I'm hungover) - doesn't mean I'm right and the sugarless hordes are wrong, we just have different tastes.

  • Yoga and skidding combos: the SchmotoShop possibilities!
    Ha ha!

  • I'm with BSNYC on thinking trackstanding competitions are the height of dumb in cycling. All that effort to go nowhere.

Rule #1 of cycling (and the fixed scene) should be: Ride your goddamn bike.

  • nah dude, what you do is you build a bike, polish it until its shiny, buy desinger cloths and go and trackstand for days outside the house of some one you want to impress.
