Axle manoeuvres

  • hi guys i recently got a flip flop hub and am not sure how to move the axle so that i can have a straight chainline on the opposite side any advice would be much appreciated thanks.

  • Chainline isn't adjusted on the hub.

What chainline issue do you have?

  • if i flip the wheel round the axle is too far to one side so i cant fit the wheel properly without it being out of line with the rest of the bike

  • sounds like the wheel was an old style freewheel hub and was dished to accomodate, you'll need to adjust the dish by loosening that side and tightening the other side of spokes.

  • but he is trying to flip the flop so it must be threaded on both sides.

I don't understand what you mean by

Ratboy if i flip the wheel round the axle is too far to one side so i cant fit the wheel properly without it being out of line with the rest of the bike

Could you please draw a picture or take a photo or something, your terminology seems to be mixed up a bit which makes it difficult to understand what you are referring to. Good luck.

  • vintage flip-flop, ie fixed on one side but free-wheel cartridge on the other, will have the dish on the free side to fit the cartridge ;)

  • Ahh I know the type you mean.
