So long as we can all agree on what to buy it's a damn great idea and part of why I started the place. I was always envious of the group buys, and there were never enough Londoners to make it work. If we can get over the fashion thing that makes us all want different things it could be fabulous.

velocity boy If we can get over the fashion thing that makes us all want different things it could be fabulous.
therein lies the rub

we could group buy those little metal collars round inner tube valves, i'm always losing mine. if you buy 1000 you can get the price down to .008pence each

Might I suggest the Soma Everwear tyre as a candidate?
a) Smaller company, so more likely to be forthcoming
b) The tyres last for ages, even brakeless
c) The reflective strip running all the way round each sidewall is a neat safety feature
d) The strong £ would make the prices even lowerShipping might not be too cheap, though.

I have one of those bf.net IRO frames. It's nice, but the fork weighs an absolute ton.
LondonFGSS group buy on Rapha jackets, please! :-)

i def think the small items that wear out for everyone are good places to start especially if they are fairly universal... chains and break pads might be other options
-
• #13
^Yes mate - tyres and chains please!
And perhaps silver goldtecs / toe-straps? (ducks) -
• #14
soma double straps?? id be down for soma tyres too, cant you get a bunch of different colours in those, summin to suit everyone?
-
• #15
my current tyre is coming to the end of its life so sooner rather than latter with the group tyre buy please. soma seem fine.
-
• #16

It would have to be something more substantial in price than tubes & tires to make it worth while... otherwise I'm certain it would be rather a lot of organizing for not a lot of return unless we are buying shitloads individually. Yes wearable items will always need replaced, but bulk buying frames is a better idea cause they are harder to come buy at a good price and they are more interesting than brake pads imo
If it was frames, I'd be up for this... IRO, Panasonic, Bareknuckle, Steamrollers... all good!
-
• #22
this is going nowhere..
-
• #23
Minimum order 4 tyres per member perhaps?
Yeah me - based on bikeforums.net a frame is the way to go - any suitable UK suppliers..? on-one? -
• #24
if it were frmaes id go for panasonic, purely because they look nice.
-
• #25
im not talking about one tyre each, if theyre cheaper buy 10 - 20 each? like BULK buy
ok, so on bikeforums they did a group buy of IRO frames and they got frames for about $160, anyone interested in a group buy london? not frames, but tyres or something? loadsa gatorskins would be nice
