  • Two people agreed this was a good idea of mine so here we go.

    Lots of us have boxes of tools that get aired once in a blue moon whilst other forum members have to fork out for tools they will use once.
    And in an emergency wouldn't be useful to know you could lay your hands on some esoteric tool nearby when shops are closed ?

    Post where you are and what you are willing to lend to fellow forum members in need and keep your contact details up to date.

    Start your post with the phrase "Tool library" and your postcode split so anyone using search can try to find tools by region or a specific area.

    On second thoughts doubt that lot will be much use to anyone... I do have 2 old steel road frames and a few other cheap parts though.

    Also considering building a truing stand in the style of Hovis Brown. (ie very "conceptual" ho ho ho only turd and hovis will get that and only turd will find it funny. Hovis will simply roll his eyes.)

  • Got a bunch of workshop tools - think i got nearly everything apart from cutting tools - Phil Wood BB tool, old skool Dura-Ace headset spanner, all headset and BB install/removal tools, drop out alignment tool etc etc.

    I am based in Stockwell SW9. You're welcome to come and use the tools for free if you're in trouble although donations are accepted!

  • we should do a LFGSS tool database. Where people can check in tools and location.
    Nice searches like : 'Find a chain bolt extractors in SW9' Or something..
    what do you guys think ? Is it worth the effort ?

  • does anyone have a shimano hollow tech crank removing device ? they have nothing in the middle for the regular crank removers to get a hold of / push on ?

  • @brm- got a shimano chainwhip and lockring tool, not sure if it fits bbs (don't see why not) i'm in se12 so not too far

  • I've got one Dicki; it has a small magnetic cap that fits over the usual extractor bit to pop the crank off...I'll check tonight to make sure its complete...I'm in SE23/ SE1 if thats any help...
