Finding out about old frames. Who's the Daddy?

Posted on
  • I month ago a bought myself a new (to me) frame. I know I was shaking when I handed over the money and am still in shock at spending that much money in one go.

It is an old Basso, I would like to find out more info about the frame. I have googled the frame number but not much help and can't seem to find any useful table or anything on Basso frame numbers.

Big Keith told me to go somewhere or other where he knew people would be able to help me but I had been drinking so forgot where I had to go.

So any idea of where to look / who to speak to. (I can't read Italian so no Italian websites please unless you can translate for me better than google)

    Ta very much

  • come on then, how much was it? we won't judge you here

  • Unlucky:
    Basso: Coming

  • Platini Classic Rendezvous

    Try here

Thanks I think that was where Keith said to go. Shame Basso is the only section that is 'coming'

nimhbus come on then, how much was it? we won't judge you here

A fair price, I don't feel riped off. Got the lot up there, Brooks saddle, some quill stem, aero leavers and campy 170 mm cranks, frame and forks for £110 I think, I am trying to block it out. It is not the point spending any amount of money makes me feel bad.

Thanks for the info guys a far old bit to work through. Thanks for the info on the mailing list Jos as well I will have a read of that as well and do a nice intro and ask if I can't spot anything in the archives.

  • While I am chatting about this bike anyone have any recommendation for I.S.O tapered bottom brackets.

campagnola obviously but who else makes ISO B.B?

  • miche are ISO as well. and anything sugino.

  • I thought sugino.where J.I.S (Japanese are they not?)

  • only the sugino 75 b/b is ISO, the rest are JIS

  • 31t®um only the sugino 75 b/b is ISO, the rest are JIS

doh! thought it was all iso. it does make a lot of sense considering they are a japanese company :)

  • Sounds like you got a super deal, Tommy, with all those extras.
