if your getting spd's, eggbeaters or times.......no problemo

That is normal for off road shoes. You only need the three bolts if you want the walk like a duck, slippery sole, one sided pedal, my feat are so tightly conected right now in the look / spdsl pedal combo. For what it's worth time atacz seem to get the best reviews for clipless (mbt style) pedals I have spds but am cheap and already had some.

Also anyone else use these shoes? I was thinking of getting them. They seem good value. Specialized shoes in general rate them or hate them? (sorry mini hijack but still kinda relevant):)

I've got a pair. They are quite good value for money, they look tidy enough, and I'd recommend them for day-to-day use. But (bet you knew there was going to be a but) I'd steer clear if you're going to be riding for more than twenty miles at a time, cos my feet seem to go missing after that sort of distance: all feeling below the ankle disappears.

They are almost the same as mine.. which means.. they must be good!
Ego, me? :P
If you buy the right size (mine were comfy from the get go) then you should have no trouble. Make sure they fit in the store!
Oh, buying online.. you lose.

Sparky I was thinking of going clipless - these only have two bolts though, will that be a problem?

I've been riding with clips up until now, so don't have specific pedals to match up with yet.
I've got a pair like this, but with the ratchet top fastening. Love them. Took a bit of a gamble by buying them at Mike's Bikes in San Francisco, so not exactly handy for a refund if they didn't work out. Fortunately they did - they suit my wide feet, and I use 'em with SPDs on my fixed and geared road bikes and MTB.

Try em on in Evans, buy em from Wiggle. Shaft your omnipresent cycle superstore!
They're reckoned to be good shoes, if I had £50 to spare I'd buy some.

This is sound advice! Listen to the man, CRC may even have something cheaper to get going with. Let me see....

Again, try in evans, buy online and you will probably need to size up. Shimano fit me comfortably but it seems to be about width more than anything.

As the guys say its ALL about the fit. Only Sidis fit my weird feet but they last better than any other shoe Ive tried too, so thats lucky!

So, Specialized tend to be better for wider feet, huh? Definately going to go to evans to experiment.

I wouldn't buy a shoe without ratchet fastening. Makes a big difference.
The Spesh shoes are kinda baggy and tip your feet outwards, which feels odd.
The soles are much chunkier than Sidis, so better for daily use IMHO.
