Info please (social trends and "fixie" culture)

i am doing a project on social trends and the "fixie" is one of my trends. i was wondering if i could have some info about it plz.
Like how did you guys/girls find out about it?
Why are you interested in "fixie's"
What trips do you do?
Where do you travel?
Do you meet other "fixie" peeps
Have u injured yourself?
And any other exciting pieces of info you have?

I hate the word fixie, even more so when put in quotes. Who are you quoting? You need to reference who ever you quote.

Found out about it online via singlespeed bikes, my mate Momentum, Sheldon Brown and then here..
I like riding.
Several accidents - I learnt from each one.
There are plenty of pics in the names/faces to bikes thread on here... and flickr search londonfgss I think?

Do you guys use these bikes as a hobby? or is it for commuting?

fuck social trends its a bunch of wankers want to look like like couriers therefore making real courier bikes a target for thieving scum because of the demand i had three stolen in 1 year. accidents broken sternum, torn muscles between ribs, broken collarbone, still off work with a broken elbow. am i happy no!
now bugger off.
oh and i used to play the triangle in a jazz funk band we were shit apart from the hammond organ

What trips do you do? general commuting between sw18 to ec3v and beyond...and occasional long rides
Where do you travel? is this same as above? "fixie" stays in uk...cant be arsed travelling with bike but id bring my mtb for rides in proper mountains or my road bike for sportives in the continent
Do you meet other "fixie" peeps yes. aiming to look cool involves hanging out with cool people...cant find any at the moment
