Non-stopping front brake

So I whack my spanky new Arrospok on my posing whip and now the fecker won't stop!?
Tried changing pads, de-greasing the braking surface and messin' around with the calipers but nada...
Bits are Goldfinger lever to Tektro long drop caliper to Arrospok...
Bloke at Brixton Cycles suggested I get some wider bars and a decent lever cuz I wasn't getting enough leverage on the caliper... Sounds like rubbish tho' cuz my othert bike's got an identical set-up and works fine on an un-machined rim...
Any thoughts?

BTW Double toe straps were installed later that night!

Did you repalce the pads with new ones of the same type or new pads made from a different compound?

Try some of those old Skyway BMX pads.. for Mag wheels. NOS might mean££s
Or you can stop calling it a 'front brake' and start with the 'front seasonally-optimised velocity-modulation device' as noone wants to lock up their front wheel on a wet road!

Yeah for carbon wheels they give you new pads.

Maybe arrospok need new pad.

Yeah, I tried the sandpaper thing... The old pads were really crap so replaced them with Shimanos but there was very little difference in braking... I'm sure a cross lever would help things, that may be the answer...

Gonna have to take 31trum's advice too and learn to skiddy-skid-skid... ;D

i haven't used them on an aerospoke, all i know is that they wear down pretty quick on a normal rim and are relatively soft. i can bring to bike polo if you want.

Use proper pads designed for carbon rims.. although arrospokk aren't carbon so they might not work, in which case you'll have to buy a HED3.

Do you need long reach calipers? I would try Koolstop pads (Shimano are shite) and make sure the rim is clean (rub with kitchen scourer + soapy water)

If they have an alum. braking surface then Skyway pads are a waste of time... try Kool-Stop Salmon ones? ..Basically try everything.

Koolstop, I'll look them up... A longer brake lever would probably make a big difference, I've got a Dirty Harry on the other bike so that extra finger's worth of leverage might be all it takes to fix the problem...

try some koolstops, the salmon coloured ones. they make chrome rims stop, even in the rain.

Yes a confirmed weight weenie (in our local church) - but what is not apparent from the photo is that the anchor is using Shimano's 'hollowtech' technology.
